Background.
Astarion was a privileged magistrate in the city of Baldur's Gate until he was bitten by the sadistic vampire, Cazador Szarr. As a vampire spawn, Astarion was compelled to follow Cazador's commands for two hundred years. After being abducted by mind flayers and infected with an illithid parasite, he's freed of the drawbacks of being a vampire spawn and can walk in the daylight, enter homes uninvited, and disobey his master's commands.
Personality.
Even after two centuries of servitude, Astarion still has all the qualities of a spoiled noble: haughty, prejudiced, demanding. However, his time as a slave has also made him cynical, mistrusting, and vengeful. His top priority is looking out for number one, and his typical way of doing so is ingratiating himself with others through manipulation, often with sex and insincere flirtation.
First Impressions.
Visual. An approximately 39-year-old high elf. Pale, with red eyes and fangs, but don't worry about it. Impeccably coiffed, curly silver hair. Lean, with a strength score of 8. Apparently somewhere between 5'9" and 5'11", who knows.
Clothing. Style and flash. Astarion cares about looking good, and will opt for fashion over function every time. The shinier and more expensive the better.
Demeanor. Carries himself like a haughty nobleman despite not having been one for two hundred years. Rude, sarcastic, flamboyant. Rarely vulnerable, often arrogant.
Aural. Sounds like Stewie from Family Guy.
Olfactory. Wears a homemade cologne of bergamot, rosemary, and brandy over the faint eau de death.

Canon point. Usually Act 1/2 on memes, but anything is fine. I default to spawn Astarion, but can play ascended if desired.

General. I'm easy and open to most things!
Fourth-walling. ✗, but why would you.
Violence, injuries. ✓
Assumed CR, cross-canon. ✓✓✓ Fine to assume your character already knows he's a vampire, AU them as a companion, etc. I prefer not to assume anything major so that we can thread it out ourselves!
Shipping. ✓ OTA companions, cross-canon with chemistry! Tavs/Durges are on a case-by-case basis, but generally speaking, I don't enjoy rehashing the in-game romance and am not interested in assumed shipping. I prefer shipping in the context of a plottier storyline and to focus on character and relationship exploration and development.
Smut. ✓ I'll write it out or FTB, but prefer it with plot and emotional pay-off. I write Astarion as an assertive switch. Please note that Astarion has a messy relationship with sex due to past sexual trauma. OOCly, I'm not interested in non-consensual sex, scat/watersports, age play, A/B/O, or pregnancy.
wishlist / hooks.
☆ cross-canon with characters from fantasy media; love AUs or canon mishmashes, and I'm happy to learn about your canon.
☆ filling in missing scenes between companions that we didn't get, emotional vulnerability via tadpole connection, thievery/murder/generally morally dubious hijinks!
☆ I am not immune to goofy, cliche fanfic tropes. pretending to be married for Totally Legitimate Plot Reasons, there's only one bed, for some reason they have to attend a fancy ball don't worry about it, snowed in, etc. I won't apologize for who I am.
☆ cross-canon companion quest: love to AU cross-canon as a fellow companion and have them do their very own quest!! the details are (obviously) up to you.
☆ pre-game canon divergence: your character (castmates or cross-canon more than welcome!!) is chilling in Baldur's Gate for Reasons! maybe they're a monster hunter who hears about a vampire and goes to investigate-slash-stake Astarion, or maybe they're his latest mark who ends up being more powerful than he expected. either way, he enlists them to help with his Cazador problem, drama ensues.
☆ pre-game canon divergence... TWO: Cazador's compulsion on Astarion breaks for Reasons and he runs away to [Your Character's Location]. as a walking disaster, he immediately begins causing trouble for them. alternatively, he manipulates them real good into taking pity on a poor innocent homeless elf with no money... 🥺
☆ post-game: after Astarion's spawn ending, he sets out on a quest to find a way to walk in the sun again and recruits your character as a pack mule, bodyguard, moral support, brains of the operation, etc. this could lead to adventuring and dungeon crawling, traveling to another city in search of academics/spellcasters, looking for a cure for vampirism or just a magic item or spell, etc.!!
☆ arranged marriage au: I'm sorry I'm SUCH trash but I just think it would be neat if Cazador arranged a political marriage with his spawn ok.
☆ pirate au: no thoughts head empty I just think it would be fun to play pirates. rival pirate captains who have to work together for a greater goal, captain and hostage problematically bonding, outlaw pirate vs. lawman FIGHT, treasure hunting!!, pirate and mermaid, etc.
☆ thief/detective au: I continue to be trash but gentleman thief/detective anyone?? and obviously at some point they must work together for a greater cause?? OBVIOUSLY??? and there's identity porn because again I'm trash. I'm basically imagining this like the fantasy version of Batman and Catwoman with less leather bodysuits (unless...???)
☆ regency au: this fanart, basically... do I have a good plot in mind NO but we'll just plagiarize Bridgerton.
